Policies, Salary & Benefits
All policies are based on the IUSOM GME Resident Handbook. Program-specific interpretations are included. These guidelines were developed in the context of the Residency as a professional training program. As a professional in training, our residents should expect that there will be work weeks in excess of 40 hours to complete all required and elective activities. As with any professional activity, experience gained during residency is typically related to time and effort expended.
In Year 1, resident salary is $35,000. In Year 2, resident salary is $35,000.
Benefits offered at no cost to residents include: family health insurance, vision and dental insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and malpractice insurance. Campus parking will also be provided at no cost.
In Year 1, our residents receive 15 paid days off and 3 days off for professional development (e.g., conferences, EPPP) that do not count against paid time-off (PTO). In Year 2, residents receive 20 paid days off and 5 days off for professional development. These days are in addition to the standard IU holidays.
