Arthur B. Richter Award & Scholarship

Arthur B. Richter Award in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

Arthur B. Richter Scholarship in Research in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

The Department of Psychiatry offers the opportunity annually to IUSM third year medical students to apply for two different awards created through a generous gift from Arthur B. Richter, M.D.   Dr. Richter was a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine and widely recognized as a pioneer in supporting clinical care and research for children with psychiatric disorders.  As the first director of medical education at St. Vincent Hospital of Indianapolis, Dr. Richter was also dedicated to medical student education throughout his long career. In 1980, Dr. Richter further illustrated his strong commitment to child and adolescent psychiatry and medical student education by establishing a foundation to support two scholarships for IUSM senior medical students that would specifically promote and reward interest in child and adolescent psychiatry.

The Arthur B. Richter Award in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychiatry offers a $500 monetary award and is designed to encourage medical student interest in child and adolescent clinical psychiatry.  One award may be given annually.
