Richard L. Roudebush Veterans Administration Medical Center (RVAMC) is a 610-bed hospital that handles over 10,000 admissions annually, in addition to approximately 150,000 outpatients. It provides acute-care services and serves as a designated referral center for smaller VA hospitals in Indiana and surrounding states. In addition, the VAMC is also the site of several basic science laboratories as well as a large health services research group. The RVAMC Psychiatry Service is divided into the following seven clinical sections: Inpatient Section, Psychiatry Ambulatory Care Clinic, Substance Abuse Treatment Section, Comprehensive Day Hospital Program, Health Care for Homeless Veterans, Vocational Rehabilitation, and Consultation-Liaison Section. 

William N. Wishard Memorial Hospital is a 340-bed municipal hospital. During the mid-1990's,Wishard was selected for three consecutive years as one of the Top 100 Performing Hospitals in the nation and was the only hospital in Indiana to receive this designation three years in a row.  It houses the Midtown Community Health Center, Indiana's first community mental health center founded in 1969. Midtown provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services for all types of emotional and behavioral problems and is one of the largest mental health centers in the nation.

Indiana University Hospital, a Clarian Health Partner, is a tertiary care facility with nationally and internationally recognized programs in specialized care. It offers inpatient and outpatient services in virtually every medical discipline and is widely recognized for many of its programs. General psychiatry residents rotate through the Adult Psychiatry Clinic, located at University Hospital, which offers psychiatric services  including a consultation-liaison as well as several outpatient clinics.  The clinics care for patients with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, geriatric disorders, and women's issues and patients receive flexible treatment with medications and/or psychotherapy as appropriate to their needs. The specialty clinics also offer novel treatment approaches through a number of ongoing clinical research opportunities.
