Emily Liffick, M.D.
Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry

Personal Statement  Since joining the faculty, I’ve been able to develop a deeper understanding of the struggles that individuals with psychotic illnesses face, to learn about the political, economic, and social framework within which the disease occurs, and to gain skills to help move individuals toward a healthier, more fulfilling life. I enjoy working with patients and families in a clinical setting and studying the processes by which care is provided to individuals with psychotic illnesses, with a focus on improving outcomes.
Education  Undergraduate: DePauw University

Medical School: Indiana University School of Medicine

Residency: Indiana University School of Medicine
Current Academic Interests  Teaching: I direct the Academic Track and the PGY3 Didactic Curriculum in Psychotic Disorders for the Indiana University Psychiatry Residency Training Program.  Additionally, I am a preceptor for psychiatry residents in all years of training for required and elective rotations (including electives focusing on early psychosis, research, and administration), for Purdue University School of Pharmacy PGY2 residents, Indiana University Family Practice residents, and medical students in their third and fourth years.

Clinical: My clinical interests include the care of individuals with early psychosis, understanding and treating individuals throughout the long-term course of severe and persistent mental illnesses, and emergency psychiatry.  I am currently the medical director and attending physician on Unit 2A at Larue D. Carter Memorial Hospital and an attending physician at Midtown's Prevention and Recovery Center for Early Psychosis (PARC). Research: My interests include outcomes of early intervention in schizophrenia.
