Transforming Lives Through Research

Institute

IPR was built in 1956 by the State of Indiana under the inspiring leadership of Dr. Margaret Morgan, the then Commissioner of Mental Health. It was Dr. Morgan who manifested great foresight and wisdom in recognizing the urgent need for a sound research base for the Department of Psychiatry.

Mission

The mission of IPR is to understand the neurobiological origins of and develop treatment for psychiatric disorders such as addictions, schizophrenia, anxiety, mood disorders, autism, Alzheimer's disease and sleep disturbances resulting from these disorders. It is also IPR's objective to communicate this understanding to all interested persons.
